Photo Help

For Christmas I was giving a photo. However this photo has no date, place or even photograher. So here what is on the photo.

It appears to be a fan trip. In the lead there is Southern Pacific 2-8-? #2728. It is pulling what appears to be a SD9 in black widow paint. Following that is a heavywight observation car and a streamlined car. it is sitting on jointed rail near a pedestrian overpass next to US 50. It seems like it was taken in the 1950’s but I am not to sure.

If any one could help, I would greatly appreciated.

If its a 2700 class SP it was probably a mountain 2-8-2…The Austin steam train assoc. has a micado ,they were 700 class I believe…Im not staking my life on it but if that is your question may it helps…I agree w/trainboy,everyone needs to see the pic to tell you where it may have been taken …Good luck

if it is 2700 it is a baldwin class C-8 2-8-0 on here is a picture of sister engine 2710 on another website

I just found out that locomotive 2706 of C-8 class is awaiting restoration to operation but it is only a rumor

Since it was next to US 50, I am guessing that it was on the Placerville Branch at the time.
