Holy smoke, I know exactly where that is! Glassboro NJ, I went to college there in the early 70’s. By 1975 the only thing left in that photo was the train station on the right. It was abandoned, but oddly enough unlocked, you could walk right into it, no “No Tresspassing” signs or anything. Even more odd, except for being empty of any railroad equipment or furniture, it was unvandalized and completely intact. There were a few hazardous material warning placards in a closet I souvenired for dorm room decorations.
Goes without saying when I was there the PRSL was long gone, as was the passenger service. The line was still active for freight use by the Winchester and Western, and I believe it still is today.
I have no idea if the station’s still there 40 years later. The last time we went through Glassboro was eight or nine years ago and the campus was almost totally changed, instead of Glassboro State College it’s now Rowan University. The wife and I felt like total strangers to the place. We won’t be going back, it’s not the college and town we knew.
