This isn’t the one I’ve been promising. Hopefully, I should have that one pretty soon. Until then, try this one. Sorry about the low contrast. It was on a cloudy day, and the scan of it wasn’t too good (it was actually taken on Medium Format Film). Good luck!
Chris - not sure exactly where you are at, but for extra credit - might look for what mudchickens and good safety people see in the photo that makes them awfully nervous.
It wasn’t Watseka again, was it? It doesn’t look like the main line I’m more familiar with.
I would be worried about all of the whatever-it-is on the ground that would be a hindrance to drainage, collect runoff from the main line, and–if it’s grain–be pretty disgusting after a while. I also don’t think too much of the side clearances there.
Attaboy for Carl - It would appear that the BeauJohn/Agridummies added-on to the side of their elevator which leads to fatal consequences for trainmen. The sorry drainage just adds to the potential nightmares. Illinois Commerce Commission should be taking the track out of service until the offending encroachment is removed. (I can just hear the whining from the elevator operator now…)
They just had within the last 10 months two trains collide at the diamond (Nov. 25). I don’t believe anyone was killed, but two locomotives and 45 cars on the ground.
