Photo Where Is It (SOLVED)

Haven’t had one of these in awhile, so…

I’m not even sure why I bothered to post process this shot, since I’ve found more things to dislike than to like, in at least a 3:1 proportion. I’m positively allergic to it. Let this one be a lesson on what not to do with a shot.

Still, it is kind of interesting, and not the type of shot one usually associates with this city. Only one clue for starters: Don’t let the motive power fool you!

Alright, off you go!

On the BNSF main in Savanna, IL?

Wow, that went a lot faster than I thought it would. Very well done.

Would that happen to be the BNSF line at Savanna, IL heading toward East Dubuque?

EDIT: Aw crud. Dial up lines just take too long…

Hey, that’s the first time I have ever beaten anyone to the punch. Ok, someone elses turn to get it next. Just on a side note, never been there just seen it in pictures. Great shot!

Was that the lightning round version?[(-D]

NIT PICK: It’s Savanna, not Savannah. [}:)][:D]

BTW, I was able to identify the location after finding this photo

[:I]

I fixed it…

Apparently that was the speed round. Usually when I think of Savanna, I think of shots along the Mississippi Palisades, so I thought this would be a little tougher. Guess I was wrong!

Datafever, all I can say is whoever took the other shot had some serious glass. I used a 180mm, which is a 270mm equiv. on the K100D. I did take a look through the viewfinder with my 300mm (450mm equiv), and it wasn’t nearly that strong. I’m guessing that that shot was at least a 600mm equiv, and probably more like 750mm (400mm and 500mm lenses). Next time I’m back in that part of the world, I’m hoping to have a 600mm in my posession, so I’ll be able to try a 900mm equiv on it! [;)].

Chris,

I asked Joel what lens he used for that picture, and he was very sure that “it was a Canon 70-200 f4.0 lens.”

That’s interesting to say the least. I’m assuming that it was taken with a Canon DSLR, which would mean that it could be taken at up to a 320mm equiv. So, he either cropped heavily, or was standing someplace that I don’t know about.

My shot was taken on an old A-Frame bridge (once open to vehicular traffic, but used only for pedestrians now). I’m assuming he was on the same bridge because he is shooting from a vantage point above the train, and I don’t know anyplace else he could’ve shot from to get that type of shot.

Interesting…
