Photographing your railroad

On a related note, if you have photographed your railroad and have a web site with pics to share, please list it here!

The whole reason why my wife got me a digital camera is to take and post pics of our model rr. Click the icon below to see our web page.

I take photos of before, during and before for later refrance for other people to either try what I did or enhance it.
As for the locos I take shots of them same way. Some I have from 2nd hand which is totaly fine by me <Dave’s Great!>.
With each photo will come with a story later on in my new web pages, tips tricks and how tos with articals written by not only the men and women who have been in G Scale for years but also articals by up and coming.
With these photos you can even win prizes…etc… Photos are a must I think, even when not a word has been written about the picture scene.

I need a spell check [:-^]

Cant vote since the layout is still far from finished. But once completed that is going to be one of its primary purposes, as a backdrop or stage-set for photos.

I was thinking of garden railroad ,for my turtle

Hi Rene,
Now that I actually have a line up and running I will be taking lots of pics. I learned a lot of “how to” from Marty K. Plan to employ some of his cool techniques! Later eh…Brian.

My friend Don has helped me with posting photos of my railroad at http://planetdonnstudios.com/mike/index.html . One of the best parts of this hobby to me is sharing what I did and how I do it .

I just got a new camera to take even more pictures. For some of my building projects I like to use it to document my progress.

More can be seen on my web site http://www.jbrr.com/

Okay, most of the photos taken on my railroad are taken in the line of duty, but that counts, right Rene? I, too, designed my current “temporary” railroad and my “eventual’” one with a keen regard towards the camera lens. The railroad needs to look good not only from a human viewer’s perspective, but the landscaping needs to be designed such that “distracting” backgrounds are elminated as much as possible.

I actually need to get out and snap a few more photos before the plants fade for the season.

Photos from last summer can be found by clicking on my signature banner, then going to “gallery.” (All other photos on the site were also taken on the line.)

Later,

i think all photo should count. Sometimes the ones you "try " the hardest on don’t do so well, and others you “happen” onto do and look great.
i’m still at a learning,curve stage yet.
Its good to go back and look at old photos that you once had hanging on your wall cause they were so ,COOL… OR were so cool till you (in general) get better.
Carrie found my old photo album that I carried around with me when i first started going to GRR clubs. Man i can’t believe I showed those photos. 3 years ago they were my best.

OH, the camera really makes the difference also, our new camera I have yet to be able to catch a late evening shot. The old camera does evenings and nights great. The new one does day shots outstanding, but not close ups so well.
So much to learn.

I’ve photographed every step in the development of the Toenail Ridge Shortline from the original ground clearing to its condition today, 8 years on. Also all of the rolling stock & structures. Lots of pix on my URL

I have my website listed in my profile, but will also add it here. Need to update it soon.

PS I think Rene and her “friend” needs to build a GRR to take photos of. Right Brain??? And it can be a beginners one or three part in GRYs.
A little "hands on "…[;)] In the hobby.

Rene, you need to add " If you had a Garden RR would you photograph it"
It I had one up and running I would definately photograph it.

[:D] Hey Marty,
Come to think of it I have questioned Rene on this. It’s time THEY did build a RR of their own. After all I think it’s only appropriate that the Assistant Editor of GR get some thing up and running. What do you say guys!? We’ll need to see the pics of course. C’mon Rene…let’s hear from you. [;)] Later eh…Brian. [tup]

Yer I do too, I have hundreds of the bloody things, but having said that its interesting to look back on how it was before you put all that work , creativity and money into it.

I am convinced that the only thing limiting you in this pasttime is the depth of your pockets.

I enjoy photographing my garden railway and sometimes editing the images for fun with Paint Shop Pro 8. Just another example of how this hobby helps you expand your skills.

Ok, ok, you’ve got me! Yes, the subject of building a RR has come up a number of times. I admit I’ve thought of what I’d name my railroad (still don’t have that figured out). I’ll keep you posted if it should ever happen–though it won’t be soon, since fall is well on its way here.
