Photos... and a question

Hello all. The wife and I took advantage of a rare concurrent day off to bolt up and visit the Cisco Crossings in the Fraser River Canyon, just south of Lytton BC. Have a gander.

The two bridges. The closer one is the Canadian Pacific crossing (the older of the two), while CN’s longer, newer bridge is in the background.

Tunnel exit and bridge pier on CP crossing,

East side of CN crossing (behind my ugly rump there). You can see the CP line as it continues underneath the CN span, post crossing,

Signals on the CN crossing, just above where the last pic was taken. I think the track off to the side is an interchange siding; it connects with both CN and CP lines on the East side of the river.

And the question:

What the heck are these things? They’re scattered around like popcorn where the CN has obviously undergone a conversion fro

Beautiful country there. As for those things - no clue, except maybe they are protectors that were on the clips of the concrete ties, that get removed before the rail is set in place.

Pandrol Rail Insulators (from their site)------------^

Ha! Yes, you’re right! The insulator even said Pandrol on its underside, now that I think of it. Thanks, HO!

Somebody call the cops…There’s a trespasser on RR property.

All kidding aside, we were actually getting the hairy eyeball from what sure looked like a CN patrol truck. He slowed down when he saw us, but in the end just kept on going. Was half expecting to find my truck ticketed or towed from where we left it trackside.
