Photos of my layout...

I just got around to taking more pictures of my first attempt at building an HO scale train layout. It isn’t finished yet, but what do you think?

That’s all for now.

My first impression is, WOW is it clean and shiny! Do you plan to weather anything or just leave it as it is? I know my wife thinks I’m nuts when I take a brand new engine and deliberately make it look dirty, but oh well.

The buildings are lightly weathered/dirty, which doesn’t show up well on my digital camera. I haven’t started on any rolling stock yet. It’s kind of hard to get myself to “dirty-up” my engines and rolling stock since I’m new to this. This layout was started in September of 2005, and I have been learning since…

Ezielinski, congratulations; I think it is wonderful. A lot of good work there. Nice detailing, too.

Looks great! Thanks for sharing.

I have to agree with skiloff. It just needs a little dirtying up. Other than that, it looks 1st class… GREAT WORK!!!

Very good work, weathering would be good have you looked at bob grechs work in this forum? Dirt makes the final details. Great job

I can only dream of my layout with the level of detail that Bob’s has. Some day…

I think it’s fantastic! I am working on my first layout and I can only hope it will be as nice. Great work.

I have to agree WOW!!! It looks great. I hope my N Scale layout will look that great when I’m done, but of course, when is done done? lol. Keep up the good work, and can’t wait to see more of it.

Looks great. Can you post a track plan?

Here is the track plan. Roundhouse facility in right lower corner is based on 10-degree tracks (15-degree Atlas spacing is used due to RTS software). Table has all-around access. Expansion is planned off the right…

Your layout looks great to me. Amazing for a first effort.

Excellent! Very, very well done!

I agree, excellent!

THanks for sharing.

Looks good to me. Pay these dirt-mongers no mind. SOME railroads take the extra effort to keep their equipment clean, to present a professional appearance. Maybe in belgium or somewhere.

Clean is good!

Wisconsin and Southern comes to mind.[;)]

I will add the details (like the lake, roads, tunnels, etc.) to the track plan when I get a chance and re-post it for you. Thanks everyone.

It was not intended as a criticism. The layout looks great, its just starkly different than a weathered one. I asked if you planned to weather it, not suggest you do. If you don’t, thats entirely up to you. Its your railroad and however you enjoy it is great.

Excellent! How did you make those roads.

Styrene “For Sale” signs cut to shape and painted a medium gray. Traffic lines are white striping tape. I haven’t added the “RxR” to the roads or any street signs yet (those little things we call details will nickle-and-dime a layout to death if you don’t prioritize).
