Would someone please refresh my memory on how to post snaps

Wow…I got beaten to the punch!

I would like to post photos as needed or wanted. But the process is different than what I know.

Too often I find forums, such as this one often assume you are internet saavy. I do well with some things and am a deer in the headlights with other things.

Yes…how to post snaps.

You’ll need to host the images elsewhere – I use ImageShack, but Flickr also looks nice to me. Most offer a free account, so look around for one that does. You upload images from your computer, phone, etc there.

Then the host will usually provide you with several varieties of code you can cut and paste into the form here for each image, look for one that says “Forum Code” or something similar. With ImageShack the code works without doing anything more than cut and pasting in. There is also a button on the toolbar above that looks like a piece of film that can insert Images as another alternative.

CCG,

Mike’s answer is fine, should you want more info on the subject…On the right side of this page, where Manage Profile/Community Settings are, click on Help, that will take you to the Help files go down to Photo Galleries, click on that and it will explain how to do it with pictures also.

Cheers,

Frank

Hmm, I never tried the help before. So I checked out the help for “Photo Galleries” and it doesn’t help much.

The first thing to understand is that this website (cs.trains.com) does NOT do photographs at all. You cannot upload any photos to this website.

You have to find SOME OTHER website and post your photos there. Then you get a “link” (the internet address of your photo on that other site, often called a “Uniform Resource Locator” or URL for short.

Do control C (copy) of the link and then do a control V (paste) to put the link into the “insert Image” window of this site’s post editor. The “insert image” is an icon looking like a computer monitor with a light green screen and a plus sign on the post editor toolbar.

My some other website is Photobucket, it’s free, and it will hold a lotta pix. Photobucket offers 4 different styles of link to each of your photos. In this case, try all the styles until you find the one that works on this website.

Actually, you can post photos directly to the Kalmbach websites, but just not to the forums.

Click on the Community tab above and select “Photo Gallery”. If you have not looked in there, it is well worth your time.

Since LION likes feedback, actually LIONS like feed any way they can get it, him posts photos here.

LION has a server of his own, right next to me, here in my office, that is connected to the internet.

Your computer also has a web server built into it, though it is not turned on, but if you did not know that, then you certainly do not want to muck around with it!

I guess,you didn’t continue to read,about the Forums; ‘‘How do I post a photo into a thread’’.

Everything, you just typed is in the Help section…It doesn’t mention Photobucket, but it mentions URL.

I don’t know why they would put something in there, that does not work…

Cheers,

Frank

Thanks, it’s my high steel trestle on the return loop, figured if you can’t hide it, make it a center point!

Asuming that you know how to download photos to a dedicated Photobucket MRR Album … Click on Photobucket Mobile … Click the shadow image of a head in the upper right … Click on Library … Your entire set of photos should appear, … Click On the photo and an enlarged photo will appear … Click on the IMG Link at the right. … Momentarily, the word Copied will appear on a yellow background … Go back to the Forum Thread where you wish to Post the photo and click on the pencil on the lower left. … You can type in Text and then click on Paste (or ctrlV) and the code for the photo will appear… Click on Post and the text and photo will appear. To add other photos, text or corrections, click on the pencil again. … Don’t forget to click on Post again. Bob Hahn

I’m on top of the food chain, and could use a new hide in front of the fireplace. [swg]
