I several pickle cars that need some paint & lettering, is there any good place to find information on these cars & the companys & rail roads that ran them. I’ve searched & can find nothing for books or on the internet.
There was an MR article back in the '50s on modeling a pickle car, and on modeling one of the pickle stations where such cars were loaded. The name Squire Dingee was on the station, but I don’t recall if it was on the car.
At one time, pickle stations were common in the upper midwest cucumber belt. By the 1960s they had pretty much faded away.

Cheers, the Bear.
Model Railroad Craftsman magazine had a series of articles on the pickle industry earlier this year. Get some of their back issues and you’ll find out everything you need to know about pickles and pickle cars.
Bingo! Thank you all. I thought MR craftsman had done the story, I had misplaced my copy.
Dave Leider, an NMRA Master Model Railroader who lives in the Midwest Region (and is editor of the MWR’s Waybill publication) has done pickle articles for RMC and also gives an excellent clinic on the topic with even more information and photos. March 2009 RMC had one article and December 2011 had another.
I found an excerpt on the internet
