My dad (also a railfan) came down from Modoc for a visit and Saturday (nov 5) we went up to Cajon pass.
We dropped by West Colton on the way but it was pretty dead.
Next stop Cajon
Then up to CP Silverwood
This BNSF train was a long tank train with 2 hoppers up front. You don’t see long tank trains in the pass too often.

But I would highly recommend seeing photos of steam than diesels.

One day about 10 years ago I was at the same spot where the helpers are in that last photo. I was unaware UP 3985 was coming through. I was in shock when I saw her coming up the rails. As if that wasn’t enough of a bonus, she stopped right where I was parked and unloaded for a photo run-by. I burned a roll of film on her. One of these days I’ll scan those pics and post them.
