Heres some benchwork pics. The lighting stinks, but whatever. The benchwork is 2"x2"s and what will eventually be two inches of foam on top. It is light weight and extremely rigid. I used these right angle brackets from the home depot that are great. I intend to add a landscape fabric skirt later.
