what picture are you asking about? the first 1 looks like a commuter train the 2nd is a new TTX insulated boxcar. there is another thread on this forum covering the new TBOX and FBOX cars.
hope this helps
tom
the second is an ibox, its my signature, the first is the one I’m curious about
Is that sig pic real? It kind of looks like a train sim screen capture.
Bears a resemblance to a cab car, but I don’t recognize the paint. Any information on the locale or line?
My vote on the IBOX is that it’s real. Too much detail for a sim screen capture.
When i was still (younger than i am now) i saw a train cald a Coaster, it sort of reminds me of that. But you said it was on an NS line, i dont know what a coaster would be doing there. Coaster are along the Florida Coast Line!
The IBOX boxcar is real.

Definitely a commuter cab car, and I agree, it does look like a coaster…location is wierd though.
Still, you never know.
I caught a GO Train commuter car midtrain on a CN freight 300 miles from Toronto. I’ll try to get the pic for you.
I saw the CSX business train once- the color matches, but not the location or the type of cars. Does NS run a buisness train? Could that be it?
Erik
As I said, it wasent me who took the picture, so I’m not sure. But what I do know is that it was a line out of atlanta going to macon, stopped at a signal in conley I believe, few weeks back, but yes, NS line.
Almost looks like a bi-level DRC (Diesel Rail Car) made by (I think) Rader Railcar near Denver. Doesn’t have the sloped/bulbus nose that I remember on these cars.
hmmmm…
Makes sense…
HEre’s the link for DMU (mentioned above, who did build the new deisel multiple unit railcar)

Here’s the link about the new railcars, purchased by the Florida DOT.
The third article has text/pics.

I think that’s it, it s the back end of the double deck coach car (it’s designed to pull one of two passenger cars behind it, so it can run like an RDC, alone, or like a doodlebug, with a coach or two in tow.)
Whoever styled the new Colorado railcar DMUs must have been inspired by the Blackpool, England tramcars. The single decker looks like a “Railcoach” and the double decker looks like a “Balloon” car. Whatever they look like, I hope they sell a lot of them.
That is exactly what it is. See this URL for the DMU brochure - need Acrobat Reader.
