I have a athearn diesel that I want to install a decoder in. I need to download a picture of it from my computer to see if anyone know what decoder will work and how to wire it.
Even without a photo, if you provide details of the model you have there are sure to be some that can answer anyway. TCS has a lot of installation examples on their site http://www.tcsdcc.com/ you may find what you are looking for there?
We really don’t need a picture as much as telling us the scale (more than likely HO) and if it is a ready to run Athearn or a Blue Box Athearn. Ready To Run (RTR) will have a printed circuit board, if you have the box it will say DCC ready. It will have a socket that the decoder plugs into. There Blue Box (They come in a blue box) are older engines and a few of the newer ones will may not have a PC board and will have to be hard wired.
Are you talking about sound or a none sound decoder?

Look in your ‘Picture’ post in the DCC forum. I put there step by step instructions that should help you.
Yeit is a older HO engine. Came in a train set. Atlantic Coast Line. Has a metal bar that runs from the front to the rear across the motor
Did not help
thank you
I want to thank you I found the engine on the web site you sent me.
Again I want to thank you

I think Digitrax makes an adapter kit to upgrade the old Blue Box Athearns to DCC. It contains hardware and instructions.
