Pictures of Steam Locomotives used by the Rock Isl

Help! I am writing a book about " The Last Wilderness" which was the Panhandle of Texas which was settled after the Rock Island Crossed into Texas in 1900. My father was a Locomotive Engineer for 50 years and six month. Running out of Dalhart. I understand that east of Dalhart the Rock Island ran small Wheeled Locomotives (?) and West of Dalhart due to the increasing Grade Large Wheeled (?) steam locomotives were used. Can someone point me in the direection of what is more specific information about these locomotives and hopefully pictures. Or any other historical information or sources of information about the Rock Island Railroad. Particarly interested in the “Settlers Trains” that ran on Tuesdays at specially reduced rates. And any promotional literature offered RI Passengers to settle along its routes.

buzzmontgomery Good Luck with your book. It sounds interesting. I can’t help you with info or pics but will keep this in mind and let some of my other rr friends know about it. Try the University of Texas, where there are a lot of photos of steam locomotives. If you see brazilian ones there, please told me.

Colorado RR Museum (www.crrm.org) has quite a collection of B&W & negatives for CRI&P…Talk to archivist Kenton Forrest at the RICHARDSON LIBRARY…
