If this works, these are some pictures I took at West Palm Springs/Cabazon last weekend. I’m dissapointed in them but I should have known they wouldn’t be that great with all the haze in the air.
This train is down to 10mph and will stop just ahead for the helpers to cut on the point
Here comes the helpers flying by a couple minuets later
Then came a local with a trio of SP SD40M-2s w/SD45 hoods
Another westbound
East meets west below Cabazon
Then I came across this. There was no driver around. I figure it was stolen and the thieves ditched it here and tossed a match in it as they bailed.
I don’t think that they’re that bad. In fact, I like looking at the UP engines! The SP’s are alright although they could use a new coat of paint. But otherwise, these pictures I say are fine!
Not a clue. When I first noticed it I was about a mile and a half away driving slowly past the head end of a westbound. I barely noticed a flame. By the time I got up to it it was really starting to blaze. About the same time I arrived two other guys stopped on the interstate and walked over. One of them had called the fire dept. We were all wondering what happened to the driver. Nobody was anywhere around there. I figure it was stolen and ditched there. As soon as the fire dept showed up I snapped a picture and took off. I have no idea what really happened.
