Piko to offer new track/new Mini-Mag 3 from Bridgewerks

Piko will be offering a G-scale track system in October. We don’t have any other information, but we did receive a photo.

Bridgewerks will be offering a new Mini-Mag 3 power packs. Below are the specs, as provided by LGBoA:

  • 50 VA output
  • 20 VDC maximum
  • 3 amps of pure, filtered DC
  • Speed governor
  • Gold-plated connectors
  • Fan cooled
  • Powder-coated steel cabinet
  • Forward/reverse/voltage indicator light
  • Direction switch with center-off position

  • Two resettable circuit-breakers
  • Slide speed control

3 amps

20 volts max.

These numbers do not add up as well as I would like.

50 va divided by 3 amps gives only 16.666 volts available.

Also, the VA rating is the primary side of the power pack, not what is available on the secondary, therefore the voltage of 16.666 could be less when drawing 3 amps.

I personally feel that the newer engines with electronics need more than 20 volts to operate properly when pulling many cars with a pair of SD-45’s.

Indoors with R1 curves, this supply will work great, but outdoors on my RR I need a lot more power.

Maybe so but for my small layout a 3amp pack is just about perfect! Only caviet is my BTE controller is only rated to 2 amps.

Bridgewerks makes transformers that range in power from 3 to 30 amps depending on one’s needs . The Mini Mag is an attempt to give the modeller who doesn’t require a larger power supply an economical way to replace a starter set transformer with a higher quality power source.

The same scale as all of the equipment that the Washington, Virginia and Maryland Garden Railway Society run on thier holiday layout every year! [;)][:D][;)]

Yes, and we appreciate it much [:X]! I gave LGBofA their well deserved props in write ups posted here -http://www.mylargescale.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=43264 and on LSOL. I’ll post it here, too, this year. Hopefully, we can do it again.
