pine sol as paint remover

I just switched from brake fluid to pine sol as a paint remover. With brake fluid it didn’t matter if I left plastic in over night, but… the pine sol really etched or should I say softend the plastic. I’d appreciate it if some of you experianced pine sol users could give me a little help as to how long it takes to remove paint from plastic.I know plastics vary but please get me in the ballpark (roundhouse). I used it on a walthers C/O caboose. Thanks for the help!

I’ve stripped many 1/24 scale cars and trucks with Pine-sol. Usually after letting a car body sit in a bowl for 1/2 an hour I can take a toothbru***o the body and remove the paint. It won’t all come off at first so I’ll let it sit again for another 1/2 hour, that usually takes car of the rest of the paint on the body. Pine-sol will warp or soften up plastic if its allowed to sit for to long that’s why I do it in 2 steps.

I too have used pine-sol to remove paint, just do as dave says and it should work out fine.
I have also used Easy-off oven cleaner for removing paint and that works welll too. It takes the paint off without leaving that piney smell behind but use it outdoors because the fumes will get to you.

Thanks for the help, I’ll start out soaking it for an hour. I’m lucky there was anything left when I left it in over night.

high guys …i have never used pine sol …but i have used thebrake fluid… also i have found out that carbirator cleaner spray will remove the paint in seconds you just spray it on wait for 2 seconds then wipe off …never leave it on any longer other wise it will warp the plastic!!! test it first… i am stripping the paint of of an FA1 from aristocraft. and its doing great…plus use it in a well ventalaited place …like out side…and wear gloves!!!

Have you tried WD40? This stuff is absolutely amasing. Try it.

Pine Sol is good for Kato. For most anything else, try 90% alchol first. It works on most plastics and will not cause any harm to any that I’ve found. If it doesn’t work, then you’ll have to try something else, but it’s the best starting point.
