Pine Trees

I’m ready to make some trees for my H.O. R.R. I would like to use the “furnace filter method” as described several times in MR magazine. Where can I find the type of filters used. The only ones I can find are the paper ones.

Walmart and Home Depot both carry the big blue filters, at least my local ones do.

The typical “fine” blue filters are no good for big trees, but work well for trees under 2" tall. I found a good “coarse” filter at Lowes. It’s about 20 x 30 inches and an inch thick. These you can cut in decending circles from about 3/4" for the top to about 3" or so for bottom branches. Tease the layer apart until you have about a third of an inch thick, then paint your circles brown. Attach to your stem and add conifer colored foam.

Good luck,

Pete
