Has anybody figured a paint mix to simulate pink granite? I’d love to have a vein of it running through one of my rock formations.
Side note: I tried the roughened edge of extruded foam board rock method. I always thought it looked good in pictures, but once I saw it painted in person–WOW! It looks a LOT like the rock cuts around here. Need to repaint it though–my base coat is too dark.
Step one() buy pink grainte gravel.
Step two() carve spot for gravel.
Step three() place gravel in spot.
Or you clould paint the prt pink that is shaprd like rock and put a lot of of small back and white specks in it. For the best effect this wy I would first look at the rock itself and then paint it to look like the specific rock you are observing.
I once built a CONDENSED scene of the Granite Mountain quarry near Marble Falls, Texas which has been supplying granite blocks for well over 100 years for the Texas State Capitol, the Galveston seawall built after the 1900 hurricane, etc. I used that foam board and a pinkish, purplish bottled arcylic paint from the craft store, 79 cents a bottle. The craft stores have a huge selection of colors of paint that I find okay for scenery etc.
leighant-do you have any pictures, or reference material you can share? I’d like to represent the Connemara Marble (green marble) operation in Ireland.
Thanks
there is a book at lowes or home depot for custom painting. marble, wood grain, faux paint. that should have what you want and show you how to do it. ( Don,t let the wife see it or you will be painting the house and everything in it)
