I’d have to go along with the idea that the name of the line is “Pink,” not to color of the rolling stock. Well, maybe some number plates somewhere. I’m sure that if the designation isn’t popular with the people who actually ride the line, it’ll get changed.
If they actually were going to paint the rolling stock, they should dig into the history books and find out how Lionel made out with their pink railroad…

Whoa, there. I live in the Chicago area and the hate-mail thing you claim is news to me – and I read three daily newspapers and watch local news for 90 minutes each evening. The news media has unilaterally reported the CTA is pleased with the amount of publicity and exposure the new color choice has brought to the new line.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Chicago Transit Authority, each of its commuter electric lines (third rail) from the suburbs into the city is color-coded for memorability. NO ONE will ever forget which one is the Pink Line. But nothing will be painted PINK, except maybe the background of signs designating the “Pink Line.”
Since none of the print and broadcast news media is reporting what you allege about hate mail, WEEZ – please disclose your source. Or is your statement just wishful thinking?

Woa, I live in chicago to. And as you can see many people on this forum alone do not like pink. its our opinion, they chose pink, we dont agree.
You don’t have to think of it as pink, you could think of the line as weathered red.

I too have not seen or heard of any mass protest about the name. Friday’s Sun-Times had a story on it and it doesn’t say anything about hate mail.
As it was said above, none of the equipment will be painted pink, they’ll stay the dirty stainless steel color they always are. The story also says Silver and Gold were the two runners-up. Its Pink in name only so I don’t have any real problem with it. Its just a name.

I like the color pink and I think it’s both hilarious and at the same time pretty cool that they’re designating the new line “PINK”.
