Today I uploaded to TonysTrains website (www.TonysTrains.com) my Project file for the 9900 Zephyr.
The sounds are sampled from early soundtracks. The triple chime sounds like flutes and was used on the original Pioneer during its introductory period, then replaced with a single horn on the rooftop. The bell was designed to warn passengers near the tracks because they might not notice the approach of this new quieter train so readily.
If you have a Loksound programmer and can listen to these files, please comment. Note that a short chime is available on F6.

File 92900_PZephyr_Win201A is now available in the files area of the Loksound Yahoo group. TonysTrains also should have it up soon.

Hal, fantastic work on your part. It looks like a Loksound decoder is in my future. Which one did you buy for this project? Do you know if Tony’s will be able to supply a decoder with your sound file installed so I don’t have to get the programmer as well?
Simon, I am using a Loksound v3.5 decoder. The latest versions have 16 mb memory, but the 8 mb version is big enough for this.
I don’t know if TT will supply a decoder with my file installed, but you could call and ask. When you buy a decoder, they normally will install any file w/o charge.
The Loksounds require 100 ohm speakers. They have a new one not very available yet which is the perfect size for the HO Con Cor model. It is 16 X 25 mm. If you can’t find it, call ESU USA and bug them. Slight enlargement of the mounting holes allow it to screw right in to the base of the engine.

Here is a bit of advice. Unless you PERSONALY recorded these sounds I would NOT upload these up to the internet. Sampleing these sounds from a Soundtraxx decoder then implementing them towards a competitor’s product is wrong on so many levels. I would REMOVE the file because what you have done is illegal and Soundtraxx has every right to come knocking at your door.

He said soundtracks, not SOUNDTRAXX. Thanks, Keith Turley
My bad…Alot of people mispell Soundtraxx as Soundtracks…Egnore my previous post.
