Sorry about the earlier post. Didn’t realize that my message didn’t post. Anyway… I haven’t done anything with hobby for quite a while. So I decided to change my Athearn SD40 from B&O Chessie to WM Chessie. Got the model ready and spent about 30 minutes removing the B&O lettering and 7591 numbers from both sides. Got my Microscale decals and put WM on. Then I got my Chessie Diesel Locomotives book to see what the new road number would be. [8o|] I could have left the 75 on because all the WM SD40’s also were 7500 series. Thank God I didn’t touch the number boards on both ends. So my lesson has been learned. Plan ahead what you are going to do to save time and extra work. You would think after 24 years in the Army I would have that ingrained. Have a good day.
Probably in the Army, someone else did most of the planning ahead for you. Thank you for your service.
Glad to here your getting back to active hobbying.
Yes, planning ahead is supposed to be a good thing. Often we seem to not plan quite far enough ahead. Then there is track planning, where the best laid plans and actual track peices don’t always fit in the same space.
Have fun,

Glad to see that you are back in the hobby!
Regarding your first thread where the text did not show, you might want to contact one of the moderators to ask them to delete it. One other option would have been to back into your post on the original thread and click on the ‘more’ icon on the upper right. That would allow you to to change the original post to show your text there. One small point if you edit a post is that in order to avoid confusion for those who have already read the unedited post you should begin your edit with the word “EDIT” so we can see that there has been a change.

Actually you’re better off replacing the entire no. anyway. Even if the font matches perfectly, the color or depth of the color can show drastically between decals and factory print (paint/ inked). Since this unit has no boards done and is not a dash2, is it a newer version RTR? Well you have 13 numbers to pick from. If you need additional photos of each unit check out Dean Heacock’s Chessie Photo Archives http://www.trainweb.org/chessiephotos/
Mike, now that your SD40 is WM, you can add the plows. Details West PL-155 both front and rear. Body mounting the Kadees really helps, this way the plows can stay on the body for shell removal.
Want to further detail the pilots, airhose AH-302 and MU-294 both from Details West work great w/ this plow.
