Plans for building an elevator.

I am looking for any plans on building an elevator for my double-deck layout. Any ideas, suggestions, or plans is welcomed.

I have a three deck layout, 30ft by 33ft, and use a helix and a long grade for access. I can’t imagine having an “elevator” built into a layout IF you are talking about someway to run a train into an elevator and then have it ascend or descend to the other level. It also sounds like a mechanical nightmare to me.

Maybe you need to be a little for explicit in what you are looking for.

I thought you were asking about a grain elevator, so naturally I was going to tell you that since most elevators are inside of the buildings there would be no need to model anything but the head house on the roof.

But it appears that you want something more complicated. Doesn’t the London underground use elevators to get cars down to the loop line?

But if a train elevator you want, the LION would build it against the back wall. Mount the hardware to the wall. Maybe look into your computer catalog to find some rack rails that can be mounted vertically on the wall. Something like these may work. Put them as far apart as you need, and mount your track on it. Heck, if you want uncomplicated, you can raise and lower the thing with a string. All the way down and it hits the stops under the lower level. All the way up it hits stops on the top of the upper level.

Thinking outside of the box. My cats do that all of the time.

Here is a company that builds several lengths of ‘train elevators’ They come in 4’ and 6’ units that can be combined to get up to an 18’ train length. Here is the web link:
