Plastruct

Hi Guys,

Last night I got a drop of plastruct on one of my structures clear windows by accident and am just curious if there is anything I can do to remove ? I assume No. What would you guys do short of replacing the piece of plastic on the window?

Thanks

Jeremy

Jeremy,

You need to rewrite your first sentence…not sure what you are asking.

Frank, platruct is a glue that bonds platruct plastics together.

I’m not sure if it can be removed.

Plastruct glue is mostly solvent and will have eaten into the window plastic, so you will probably have to replace the window if it’s really that noticeable.

Thanks guys. I might frost the windows anyways. Zstripe I meant to say When I was glueing a wall I accidentley got a drop of the plastruct solvent on one of the structures clear windows.

The window can be boarded up or bricked over.

Or cut on a diagonal and left “broken.” Damaged and hastily-repaired windows are a nice detail that is often overlooked.

LOL Me neither.

Restoring clear plastic parts.:

Future Floor Wax can be used for repairing scratched clear plastic. From http://www.swannysmodels.com/TheCompleteFuture.html :

" Some time in the dim and forgotten past, a modeler discovered that this stuff, when applied to both side of a piece of clear polystyrene, would make it appear thinner and clearer. It will help to hide minor scratches - simply pour some Future into a small cup and dip your canopy into it or brush it on and let dry - it’s a kind of magic! After you dip your canopy (or other parts) in Future, be sure to place a cover over it to prevent dust from collecting on it."

Jeremy,

I thought that’s what You meant, but wasn’t sure. Some good suggestions so far. Do another one and do what has been suggested, on weathering or replace it If you want a newer look.

That Platruct, must be something new. All I ever used was Plastruct Plastic Weld and Plastruct Bondene.

Another option is to “frost” the glass, if that’s otherwise appropriate. I take a piece of 3M Scotch Matte Finish Magic tape and apply to the interior side of the window. Why, it’s even pre-treated with a handy adhesive!!! [;)]

First post of the morning before a cup of coffee [:P]

I meant plastruct, but missed the “s”,lol
