Platte Valley & Western reopens through the Colorado

After flood damage this summer, the Platte Valley & Western has re-opened their mainline. This the first ATSF freight running with trackage rights over “The Best Route Through The Rockies”.

It’s just a link because I couldn’t embed the video like the intelligent people on this forum can.

The layout was damaged during flooding this summer and we have been working to get it back up. We are having the club’s “grand re-open house” on Friday September 30th 7-9 pm in the basement of Denver’s Union Station.

Forgive the steam whistle - it came with the song, a Billy Strange rendition of “On The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe.”

Congrats on getting everything going again!! I didn’t hear about the flooding in Denver. I think we may try to make the grand re-open house.

Great to hear your back in business Sean. I’ll have to come down there one of these friday nights and see the layout again.

You’re always welcome, Michael. The last Friday of the month is a “public” open house, but we are open every Friday.

Glad to hear you are up and running again.

Our local prototypes just got back on line more than four weeks after Irene. She made a mess of the system. One bridge still out, but all other lines are open for business, according to the news.

Don’t know if any model railroaders were among the folks that had their homes damaged or lost.

Have fun,

Richard
