Please accept my apology...

Hello gang.

I just want to take a moment to apologize to all of the members that I angered or insulted with my topic last week entitled WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A MODEL RAILROADER. As for those of you that recall the post, I’d had a falling out with a guy that I had been trying to help get into the hobby for a couple of years, but finally reached my limit and blew my stack with him - and/or anyone like him. I have a very bad habit of thinking I’m so much brighter, capable and gifted than others sometimes because of past accomplishments I have to my credit, when in fact there are people out there today that could run circles around me without any problem. Maybe one day I’ll grow up and start thinking and acting like an adult… Like I said, please forgive me, I’m only human.

Well said, Tracklayer. We all make mistakes. The only difference between fool and a wise man is that the wise man learns from them. I think this shows you are the latter. I look forward to seeing some more of your excellent work.

Brian

I remember your thread and thought some of the guys could have been more understanding of your situation. I could see your “definition” was sort of a complement to serious modelers because it mentioned various skills associated with the hobby. On the other hand, it may have not come accross as you had intended. Best wishes, tracklayer. I’m sure you will find good friends on this hobby.

Apology accepted. Now if I can get those pieces of foam to look right.

Tracklayer…I did not see your post but I place a high value on a man that makes a statement such as yours above. We have all been there at one time or another (ask my wife LOL ) This hobby can make a person nutzzz…if were not carefull LOL…I personaly feel you handeled it with a touch of class. Take care and lets go run some trains…John

As someone who did take offence with your original post, I appreciate that at the time you made changes and I accepted them then, so I do not feel this apology is required. But it is very good of you do have done so. Your skills are much better than mine and I hope I can continue to learn from them, keep the good posts coming.

Takes more than a post on a forum to ruffle my feathers. You’ve always given me good advise when I had a problem. It’s all good!

[tup][tup]

We go back a ways, Track Man, and I consider you an equal…in every respect. By saying what you have, you are perhaps just a teensy notch above me now, but watch out! [8D]

Many years ago, an elderly Korean gentleman gave me some very good advice. A fool chatters while a wise man listens. Looks to me like you’ve been listening. Apology accepted.

Blah blah blah… Words are cheap Tracks…

Share a cold one with me and now were talkin’! [(-D] [swg]

I understood your frustration. I have had customers and freinds over the years who have driven me nuts. It happens to the best of u.

Thanks TrainFreak409 (Scott). No more controversial topics for me…

Tracklayer

Selector ?. Selector ?. Let me see now. Oh yeah. The knob on the older style TVs for changing the stations… Just joking Crandell. And yes, we do go back a ways don’t we brother.

Tracklayer

Hi Jeffrey. I recall your reply to that topic very well. To you I feel I owe a special apology brother railroader. Please forgive me for my disrespect and stupidity, I didn’t stop to think or realize who I might be offending with my selfish remarks.

Tracklayer

Hi Tracklayer. Nice to see you back. I am sure all who see will accept your apology.

The issue in that thread, (which I noticed disappeared), was really about that individual and your relationship with him. Not so much about the hobby.

To you I would (seriously) say: “we are not all rocket scientists”!

Everybody has a different skill level. So join us happily, enjoy us as far as our talents may go!!

That’s all right. I sometimes feel that way when I go to the LHSs and overhear guys talking to the clerks about an aspect of modeling I could care less about or strongly disagree on. I just hold my tongue, buy what I came for, and vamoose.

For your punishment you must redo your layout using flex-track with fiber tie strip and brass rail and run Tyco locos with open frame motors, pizza cutter wheels, one truck pick-ups, and talgo mounted horn-hook couplers.

JUST JOKING!!

I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. Like I said, We all get frustrated at times so

don’t worry and just enjoy the hobby.

You’ve done the right thing TL; you have the respect of me and many others on the forum.

I too know your very talented and didn’t deserve the abuse you got, but it just got out of hand because the tone you used was a litlle too high and mighty. I realize you didn’t mean it that way , By the way , I was the one that asked Bergie to delete the thread. Not because of what you said, but because it was getting out of hand. I wish everyone ( myself included would just stick to the hobby ), we have too much to do and learn to spend time fighting.

OFF MY SOAPBOX !

Tracklayer–

Missed the thread completely–was down with pneumonia, but having read a lot of your other posts and enjoyed them, if you feel you were out of line and an apology was needed, it seems very thoughtful and caring of you to post as such.

In my book, it just means that you’re a person who cares very much about his fellow hobbyists. That’s pretty darned BIG of you, IMO!

Keep on Training!

Best,

Tom

Hey! that’s my first layout.[:)]

I had the Tyco Santa Fe 4-6-0 and the 2-6-2. I used Atlas brass snap track and brass flex track with fiber ties. The staples were only in every other tie and I used to drive spikes through the empty holes - I thought that was advanced model railroading.[:D]

I had the Atlas station, lumber yard, and signal tower. I also used the Atlas electrical components.

I had a lot of fun with that setup, probably because I didn’t know how deprived I was.[(-D]

Eventually, I moved on to MDC, Athearn, LaBelle, Central Valley, NS track, etc. But I still have a fondness for Tyco.

Enjoy

Paul
