Why is this necessary? Walthers has all kinds of structure kits and lots more in the pipeline.

Walthers has lots of stuff in Kit form. They are just oober expensive. Model railroading has gotten to the point I can hardly afford it any more. I am stoking up on scratchbuilding supplies and spare parts so I can keep going after doomsday comes and walthers closes for ever taking all their exclusive distributer ship stuff with them. Not to mention all the nice centralised ordering I can do currently.

Sure they have lots of kits, but tell em you don’t think that almost all are all turning to RTR and complete kitts???

Hear, hear Sancho!!!

You are kiddng right?? Have another look at the Walthers Catalogue and tell me seriously that they arent manuafacturing new kits all the time whilst adding a few pre-builts. There is obviously a demand for the product or they wouldn’t build it.

These kind of threads smack of knee-jerk reactions to a commercial decisions made by a supplier. If you are so keen on their kits, buy them and they will continue to make them. You can’t honestly expect manufacturers to continue to build un-wanted product.

Get the bee out of your bonnet and stop trying to think for the whole world. The RTR movement is here and it isn’t going away, like it or not.

You’re still buying stuff after your parents made you mothball your trains? Wow, I admire your commitment…

I’m with you Grubby.

If you don’t like em dont buy em. If you want kits, buy em! If enough folk buy kits they will produce them, simple as that. If folk think that prices are too high - dont buy the product - simple. If they don’t sell it they will reduce it if they can, if not, then they will stop making them, it’s a pretty simple business thing.
