Please show your raised/elevated yards?

I’ve got all of my layout’s scenes planned out except the end of the “U”/aisle. I have a multi tracked/turnout filledyard coming off of one leg of a turning wye. I’ve been pouring through magazines and online for ideas and concepts that “grab” me. I always know when it’s “the one” when I see it. (Well…almost.) MR’s version of “writers block”?

Anything from a city yard on box girders or concrete posts that visitors can look under/through, to retaining walls/cliff faces and dock/maritime scenes.

Any pics you all are willing to share of your elevated/ butte top/dock top/ bridges, whatever would be helpful.

I’m leaning most towards a see through version on box girders or a really wide stone viaduct yard. Anyone know if such a thing existed in prototypes? A Keddie Wye bridge like look (only with a flat/fat top for the yard) would be perfect -but probably not believable. Thanks!

Hmm. no pictures from me, but I kniow that Chicsgo has a number of 4 track intermodals you might take a look at on Google Earth.

Here in Indy, Hawthrorne yard has a coulpkle of switches on a bridge, but that was due to lansd contouring away, not an elevation,

One thing to consder is the standing weight, the other is what happens if one of those pillars falls out from undder you. Hence the more likelyness of a cioncrete fill, or a land fill. And this, only because industrila neccesity required a yard in a spot where a conviennt flat spot was not. What you might see, is an elevated fill with a number of ridges in spots, but just short little one r two lane things.

Regarldess,ghave fun with the designing!

Bumping this post up for the upcoming weekend in hopes of a few more replies/ideas. Maybe while you’re foraging around for that perfect WPF pic
