Has email notification of post replies gone bye-bye again? I see there are replies to posts I have made in threads over the weekend that I have not gotten notification of. And nothing in Verizon’s spam trap folder either. Maybe the server’s gone on holiday?
It’s about the only way of keeping track of where I’ve posted and it keeps me alerted to look out for answers to questions I’ve posted. IOW, I don’t have to keep mental track or make paper notes of things. If you don’t use it fine, but there are those of us that do.
I don’t know if you know this or not, but when you’re logged in, you can check to see if there are new messages in threads where you’ve posted. Look for the “my forums” link at the top of the forum index page:
When you click on the “my forums” link, it’ll take you to another page that shows you what threads you’ve posted in, of course your list will be different:
The threads with new posts are the ones that are not grayed out. Hope that helps you some.
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, they are always trying to upgrade sites and alot of times it messes up but sometimes not for all but just a few. Even seen it at Microsoft and they should know better!!!
Why is it so important to get those emails?, i will tell you why it is for me, cause otherwise i never get any emails and it makes me very sad[:(][:(], thats why!
THanks for the tip. Apparently the greying out does not go by when a person last logged in but by the last time a person visited a particular thread. Most other forums go by the last time a person logs into the forum. Still a good resource - something like this should be in the FAQ.
I got a cluster of e-mail notifications late this morning. Hopefully things are back on track now. Erik said that he would talk to the IT Dept. to touch base with them on the problem.
