I recently updated to Internet Explorer 9. I attempted to make a post a few minutes ago, and although everything shows up fine, the text box is completely incompatible with IE9. I was able to type in it, but it wouldn’t interface with the mouse. And when I tried to submit the post, it didn’t see any of the typed text and asked me to type something. I had to download Google Chrome so that this could be posted, and will use it for posting until your forum software has been updated (which I hope will be soon). I have a lot of bookmarks saved to IE, so I’d like to be able to continue using it instead of Chrome.
I stopped using IE long ago because of problems and switched to Firefox. I easily imported all my bookmarks from IE to Firefox.
Darth… Sounds more like a Micro$oft problem than the forum… As Jeffrey said, Download Firefox! You won’t have problems anymore…[swg]

Yup, obviously a software issue with the IE9. You can´t demand that the world follows Microsoft…
Megh…
I just use Google Chrome mostly…no IE9 here…
Hi!
We are a MS household and have not yet updated to IE 9. Has anyone out there done that and been successful with accessing this Forum. In other words, is the OPs problem unique, or is it universal?
If you have a problem with IE9 there is a quick fix. When having an issue with a site there is a button on the top of the screen just to the right of the address bar. Click it. It’s the compatibility view button. It’s for sites that havent upgraded to the latest standard.
I run both and find the New IE9 to be better.
Firefox has it’s own issues with compatibility. For instance try pasting a link to a website in the forums.
It’s a 3 step process to get it to work. You have to highlight a word or words, then click the link button, then paste inside the link window. With IE9 you just paste the link and post.
Chrome’s better IMO.
Don’t worry about the bookmarks, go into Chrome settings, options, personal settings and you can import all your bookmarks from there.
There’s always the backwards compatibility for software, engaging it, that’s another story.
Chrome is a decent program but it’s also spyware which is why I decided to stay away from it.
Thanks for the tip. I used Firefox on another post. Used the fix button and IE9 works fine now.
why cant IE9 autodetect it? Nooo you have to push a button. Programmed obselescence, its their design.
Its not a software problem, its a Bill Gates problem. $$$
You only push the button once. Internet explorer remembers when you return.
Auto detecting a site must not be as easy as it sounds. Otherwise they’d probably do it.
On the right edge of the address bar, click the icon that looks like a torn peice of paper. It will fix any problems with sites that haven’t upgraded yet.
I wouldn’t use Chrome just on principle. I get so tired of having to uncheck the box that wants to change my home page to Google, my default search engine to Google, and install the Google tool bar every time I install a new software program.
It’s simple to add a link here using Firefox. Simply type Next, type in a word or phrase to act as the “click-on”, followed by
So (with the “=” eliminated to illustrate without actually creating a link) typing this:
…will yield this:
I just lkove these threads. SHows how out of touch peopel really are. Microsoft was always lambasted for doing their own thing and not following HTML standards with their browsers. Now they switch around and each release more and more follows the standards with less and less slack given for nonstandard implementations and - oh hey, things don;t always work but it’s somehow STILL Microsoft’s fault. There is no ‘new standard’ in IE9, it just doesn’t support as much of the old non-standard stuff.
I used Firefox int he early days, but it has, just like Netscape (anyone use that still?) it has gotten ridiculously bloated with each new release. Coincidently IE gets smaller. Chrome is touted as being so super fast - so I installed it to try. Head to head on this very forum, IE8 is faster on the same computer. I’ll stick with IE8, it works, I am not innundated with spyware or ads, and I don;t have any problems here or anywhere else I regularly browse.

Thanks for proving my
But that just creates a link with the whole adress… Not a link per se.
What DoctorWayne shows is a real link, the same you get if you click on the “chain” symbol.
When people see the thread with a different color they know right away it’s the link. When the see a single word a different color they usually don’t realize it’s there. I like quick and easy these days.
