Plymouth Short Line

Anybody have any info on the Plymouth Short Line in IN?
Thanks
Travis

The Plymouth Short Line (PSLL) operated 1.8 miles of former Conrail (PRR)Trackage in Plymouth, Indiana starting in May 1985, connecting with N&W(NKP) and Conrail. I believe in shut down in May 1990. They had two 25 tonners, one GE and the other was a Plymouth (naturally). It was owned by Bob Cook.

Do you know what customers they had on line?

I was reading an old copy of The Short Line the other day that was reporting on the abandonment of the Plymouth Short Line. Apparently there were no customers and their only income was from storing tank cars.

Wow…that Tim Vermande has quite a roster of railroad shots. I could get lost in there for an entire day.

Hmmm… I’d think that that would be profitable. Get some good old track, a few switches, make a little yard, and shuffle a few cars in and out now and then, and you’ve got yourself a railroad.

It was not profilable for very long as they went bellyup after only 5 years. I remember another shortline that used a long spur for storage and it was a nightmare when you needed cars that were at the far end. [2c]
