Does Plywood go by Boxcar or Centerbeam?
Boxcar
[#ditto]
I’ll agree boxcar, with one caveat - I’ve seen plywood (that arrived in TBOX’s) depart on centerbeams, but only after being turned into truss-joists (wooden I-Beams, more or less).
And they were a wrapped load then.
I’ve been in the industry for 22 years now and I have never seen plywood on a center beam. Hope it helps.
Much appreciated!
Thanks
So what’s in those plastic wrapped square blobs that are forklift loaded onto centrebeams please?
[:P]
Packs of timber (lumber) ie: 2x4’s
As James said, also you see alot of Louisiana Pacific center beams around that are loaded with wrapped bundles of aspinite or (gypsum?) board. Forgive the spelling please.
And this for good reason. Even an exterior grade cannot take that much moisure especially days of continuous rain as it sits waiting classification.
Here’s a great example: Friday, I sheathed a friends garage roof with 5/8" CDX. Against my reccomendation to buy the stock at my normal lumber yard, he needed to use a Home Depot card for the project. Since it was only a garage, I used the crap anyway. It rained Friday evening and into Saturday AM. The HD CDX couldn’t take even one good soaking w/o buckling and starting to delaminate. I was hoping to let it dry out before roofing to see if the some of the worst sheets needed to be changed. If this was the 5 ply fir instead of the 4 ply pine junk that HD tries to pass off as a comparable product, I know from experience that the entire roof woudn’t even have as much as a wave or distortion. Another case of why I don’t buy Home Center lumber. Would you really like this as a base in your layout? I know it doesn’t rain in your basement, but why use substandard materials to save a few $$.
So much for my rant, but I wanted to let those less experienced, know that much of the stock at a home center really is garbage.
I would usually have Sunday as a day off, but guess what, I have some plywood to change and at least paper it if not roof today.
Anyone still wodering why plywood isn’t shipped on a centerbeam?
