Looks more like a repair or restoration area than a junkyard.
What did we try to “Photoshop” out of the skylights, doors and windows?
He may have done that to remove excessive bright spots and enable him to lighten the photos.
A caption or two or explanation of the post would be nice.[%-)]
I agree, I’ve never seen a railroad junkyard INSIDE a building before. Cool looking pictures though. Tell us more about them…
Can’t be a junkyard, more likely a repair facility. What! no Jeepneys ? J.R.
Was this an old passenger station? It looks like one, possibly with the end walls added later on after conversion to a maintenance facility.
This is actually the Caloocan Workshops of PNR and, despite its appearances, is fully operational.
Sadly funding over the years has been minimal so much lays out of use. However, given that most of the system is now closed they have more locos than they require at the moment.
Coming years will see much change though with massive rebuilding projects commenced. Sadly corruption allegations are tainting this all somewhat.
If you wish to see more check out the Philippine Railways SIG web and blog sites.

Philippine Railways SIG
great site pnr5004!!!, I didnt know that there is someone who has interest with our trains, yup its all old and rusty but I like it!, I grew up in the tayuman area so you might understand why. And yes it supposed to be a workshop but because the place was kinda neglected i see it more as a “junkyard”(wargames are even held here, so I guess the place is deserted most of the time). The pictures arent mine, just got them from a fellow airsofter, I guess he used a phonecam causing the bright spots on the windows. I would love to do a replica of this on my N scale hehehe.enjoy!!
G’day,
There is actually a lot of people interested in the railways of the Philippines. We are currently approaching 200 members on the SIG, while I am regularly fielding questions from people around the world.
How awesome to have grown up around Tayuman. I have spent quite a lot of time there and made friends with a few of the PNR people. Did you know they demolished Tayuman station a few months back? Am still unsure if they will be rebuilding it as part of the linkage project.
A N scale layout would be great. I have been gradually buying some stuff to do the PNR in HO. While I realise it should be more correctly in 12mm, the amount of lineside junk will hopefully partially disguise this bit of modellers license [:)] It isn’t easy modelling it, but with a lot of determination you can source much that is of use. Though the amount of people needed in reality is rather cost prohibitive.
Anyway we are hoping to head back north to the Philippines next year. If President Gloria’s plans come to fruition (assuming she retains control during the recent problems) then it will likely be a vastly different railway by then.
Where about in the Phils do you live now?
Cheers
