Polar Express Loco -- Help

Got a problem that just developed. Maybe you may have a suggestion.

I use O27 tubular track. The two lead wheels (small ones) are beginning to have a tendency to jump the track. Not all the time and when they do, the engine continues to run without a problem. There are no switches, it’s a simple oval. My 2035 runs over the same oval with no problems. AS ALWAYS, MANY THANKS.

I double-checked the Lionel website to make sure the PolEx set works on 027 curves. It does. So the next thing I would do is check the leading truck to see if the wheels are still in gauge - not the truck itself - it is probably rightfully loose to allow it to go around the curve but maybe the wheels - axle itself is off enough to cause the wheels to climb the curved track a bit.

Doug: I’ll give it a check. Thanks.

DOUG - - and all: FOLLOW-UP…I located the culprit. A section of the track came loose causing the engine to bounce. (I guess the 2035 is more stable) Anyhow, I re-attached the track and all is OK. Again, many thanks.

Try lubricating the swivaling action of the leading truck frame with grease.

Berk765: Appreciate the advice.

I’m glad to see you found the problem. Even so, you might find this topic interesting:

Your welcome. I find that mine doesn’t swival freely sometimes.

Interesting ?, I’ll say! Thanks for the note.
