Polar Express Pulling Double Duty...

I was half joking with my 7 y/o son about starting to get to work on “the Easter Layout” when he got right on it and relocated the little ceramic Easter village to the floor & set up his FasTrack…:

I did a quick little printing job on the computer and surprised him a little later…:

Nice job! Looks like you’re starting him out early.

Great idea about covering the Polar Express name. Think Buckeye has purchased a new tender without the PE on it. Runs his as a freight and etc too.

[bow][bow][bow] I love it Rob!!!

I have often wondered, with all of our new adhesive and computer printing technology, why Lionel or MTH hasn’t sold an “other than Christmas” holiday set. The set would include loads for three or four holidays, with additional holiday loads available. A CD would contain logos and lettering for the engine and caboose corresponding to the holidays.

Maybe pre-printed logos etc on magnetic “stickers” like those ribbons they sell to put on your truck or car - you could sticker up your train for each holiday.

I bought an MPC era gondola for my daughter yesterday. She can sticker it up and decorate it any way she pleases.

That’s a great idea on replacing the PE lettering on the tender. I may incorporate that idea myself and rename the tender to my own railroad name, and use it to pull freight cars instead. Doesn’t always have to be an Xmas theme.

Lionel has done Halloween and Easter and I think one or two others, though not generically. A generic holiday train would be too close to Undecorated for Lionel, probably, the odd Railsounds tender or two notwithstanding.

This just goes to show that no matter what the occaision, there’s always an excuse to put a train up!

Let’s see…
I’ve got a Fourth of July Boxcar (with LED’s on the side), Easter Egg Gondola, Veteran’s Day car, Father’s Day car, Conversation Hearts Valentines’ Day car, etc. All made by Lionel! Yes, there’s always an excuse for a train holiday!
