Help!! I had the cruise commander lite upgrade installed on my pol ex. We’ve been running it just fine up to now. Just today, however, it started to move forward only. I don’t have tmcc set up on my Christmas layout and can’t get this thing to reverse. Anyone got any ideas on how to get this thing back to forward-neutral-reverse status without taking it to a layout with tmcc (if that indeed is the needed fix)? Please let me know.
Marty–Thanks for the response. I’ve fiddled with the Program/run switch, but that doesn’t seem to be doing anything. What I can gather from the manual is that the motor gets locked into one direction when the loco’s switch is flipped at low speed. What ever the case may be, I can’t get this sucker to revert to forward-neutral-reverse.
I figured it out. Let’s all learn one valuable lesson–when all else fails, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!! I went to the Electric RR website and navigated through the installation materials and Viola, problem solved. Glad I did that–was ready to take it to the LHS to get repaired.
Marty–the secret was exactly what you had mentioned but the way the Cruise Commander board was installed it has taken over an existing switch. In reading the literature, I discovered which way the switch had to be flipped to make it do what I wanted. Again, when all else fails, read the instructions.
And Bob–you have brought my appreciation of this forum to a new level. I love it. Thanks for bringing a smile to my face. The scary aspect of this particular problem is that the Pol Ex is the train my kids primarily run around the tree. I was scared that I would be outta luck getting it to operate the correct way without tmcc. The big man in red is bringing the coach with announcement and I want that to spark the next chapter in my boys’ Christmas experience. Ah, the stress has subsided just a bit.
