Having a problem with my engine on my polar express engine. The train started running only in reverse. It cycles to forward but it does not move. the engine will go through all its positions but only moves when it hits reverse. s Set is 3 yrs old…
What scale or gauge is your PE loco?
If Lionel O, then the Classic Toy Trains forum will get you a better shot at Lionel experts.

If it is an HO Bachmann Polar Express, some of their steam locomoives used to have a problem with the drive wheels slipping on the axle. This puts the drive rods out of sinch, and they bind.
The OP is describing an AC sequence reverse that is found on the Lionel O gauge 3 rail Polar Express. There are at least 3 versions of Lionel Polar Express engines. I have one, but have not encountered this problem. He has posted on the Toy Train forum and hopefully someone there can identify the problem/soution.

The owner is a descent guy/Train modeler too and they are have a lot of Lionel stuff there PLUS they make repairs. He can probably answer your questionand if you cannot make teh repair you could send it to him for repair.
