Wv Central
Personally I think the Durango and Silverton
Wilmington and Western
Strasburg
South Simcoe Railroad in Ontario
CP steam. What could be better?

Illinois Railway Museum. Can’t beat the traffic level on the busiest days.
Strasburg = Gridlock. I like any tourist railroad in the middle of nowhere
I would have voted for the Royal Hudson Steam Excursion, but it hasn’t run for a couple of years now…
Hopefully one of thses days someone will be able to get it up and running again. [:(]
I like the Durango & Silverton. I last rode this train when it was still D&RGW. The scenery on this line is awesome! I rode this line three times, in 1967,76, and 79.[:D]
Cumbres & Toltec - from Chama to Antonito back by motor coach. Full day - 64 miles behind single - double and sometimes triple steam. After 6 hours of riding between coach & open gondola… coal smoke and cinders… you leave with a solid experience of steam and will probably agree that some of that line goes through a piece of heaven with pristine alpine meadows and scenery that will not stop. Go early and poke around the yard, walk gingerly through the engine shop and storage tracks - folks at C&T are real accommodating.
Durango & Silverton is a sophisticated tourist line - great scenery, but keep your “assigned” seat warm.
C&T may not be easy to get to… but not all good things are in the urban jungle.[:)]
I voted for the Grand Canyon Railway, We took a trip on this about 2 years ago & had a great time. It was worth every penny spent & then some. There was so much entertainment on this trip. Before we boarded we were treated to a wildwest show & on the train we had alot of different live entertainment , on the return trip the train got robbed by outlaws on horse back. The day went by too fast. www.thetrain.com
The Silverton when it was still DRG&W.
All the Grand Canyon showed me was a wonderfull site for a great landfill.

…and welcome to the forum, h e miller![#welcome]
I would have to pick SteamTown, I loved that place.
That’s a good idea, why didn’t I ever think of that…
Think of all the garbage it could hold! [:D]
Oops, I just screwed up the “Other” votes, sorry![V]
I put cumbres and toltec but if I had a second vote it would probably be the Nevada Northern. I like it because 90% of their equipment is origional(their pullmans aren’t I belive, and they recently aquired a couple FM H16-66 from the Army, an SP SD-25maybe?, and a few others that aren’t origional) including 3 steam locomotives (1 operational, 1undergoing boiler restoration, 1 currently non operational), two RS-3’s, a baldwin VO-1000(or 660), a 100 year old steam rotary snow plow, a steam crane, lots and lots of origional ore cars, two or three electrics(couldn’t say who made them), origional coal tower and water tower, all kinds of stuff. It is unlike any tourist railroad I’ve ever been to. And the tracks still go 100+ miles to the UP mainline in NE Nevada, even if they are overgrown with sagebrush.
I tend to agree with cbq9911a on this one. I think IRM (Illinois Railway Museum) has quite a museum and tourist line. Some of the most infamous locomotives i have ever seen were there. i.e. The Centeniel DD40X or the South Shores Little Joe. Plus the active Union Pacific line nearby offering occasional AutoRack freight from the nearby auto plant at Belvidere.
My favorite is the CP Royal Hudson train ride up in B.C.
