All are either old Proto2000 or Walthers Proto, except for the SD35 and GP40’s which are Atlas.
Zero. All my diesels are 9 EMD switchers - SW1, NW2, SW9 and 2 Boxcabs from MDC.

Twenty-two replies and no photos?
These are some of the geeps and SDs I could corral. Boy, the hostler is tired!

Thank you, Ed
I have ZERO EMD Geeps/SDs. Only Emds I have is an HO switcher and an EMC Doodlebug.
Some who are relatively new to the hobby, it would seem like a lot. Some who have been in the hobby for a long time, in some cases, have accumulated hundreds of engines over the years. I’ve been in the hobby since my teens but didn’t start to build a roster of HO engines until the mid-80’s, after flirting with N scale for a few years.
Roster in 2007:
(lined through were sold) There have been topics in the past where members have posted their engine rosters.
Athearn Genesis:
-F9AB (DRGW#5774,5773) single stripe
-F9ABB (DRGW#5771,5762,5763) single stripe
-F9M (former F3A #5531) single stripe
-F3AB (DRGW#5541,5542) single stripe
Athearn RTR:
Ed,I like the 7105 altough such a unit on the prototype would make a die hard P company man cry.
Disclaimer - I am a trainaholic. My last EBay purchase was last week for 2 Atlas GP38 engines.
That being said, here is a list of my Geep engines in no certain order with roads covering PC, CR, CSX, LIRR, NH, and a couple other western roads as well as my private railroads:
GP40-2 - 11
GP38-2 - 26
GP39-2 - 1
GP40- 9
GP35 - 6
GP15-1 - 4
GP38 - 7
GP60 - 2
GP30 - 1
GP50 - 1
I haven’t counted my SD units, and quite honestly, afraid to see how many of those I own…
Neal
My SD’s and GP’s …
SD7 … 2 CB&Q black. 1 CB&Q red
SD9 … 1 CB&Q black. 2 CB&Q red.
SD24 … 2 CB&Q red.
GP7 … 1 CB&Q black. 2 CB&Q red. 2 GN orange. 1 C&NW. 1 undecorated.
GP9 … 2 CB&Q black. 3 CB&Q red. 1 NP black. 1 GN orange.
There are some pretty impressive numbers so far. It looks like the geep bug is particularly strong. Ed, I like your pictures, there’s alot of fine looking locomotives to admire there.
Depends. SP seemed to overwhelmingly favor 6 axle SD units over 4 axle GP’s in northern California. Since my interests favor northern California SP power I have no SP/SSW GPs, but around 24 SP/SSW SD units.
The real D&RGW had 131 SD’s and 194 GP’s, if I counted correctly, so if one were to try to represent operations, that would factor into the model roster.
Right now I have about 31 D&RGW GP’s and 28 D&RGW SD’s so I probably need more GP’s to have a good ratio. I’m hoping ScaleTrains or Athearn Genesis produce some GP30/35/40’s to help out in that matter.
I am sure there are some I forgot, mostly undecorated GP7, GP 9 and GP30

Not breaking them down to specific models, but 14 Geeps, and 4 SDs.
Oh ok…
I really wish I had bought more of the GP15s when Walthers was selling them for $29.95. All I did was install directional constant lighting kits from Miniatronics and they turned out to be great runners; nice and quiet.
It’s funny; when I lived in Phoenix, my roster leaned heavily towards Santa Fe. Santa Fe and the Southern Pacific were the main roads out there. Each had their own yards.
When I relocated to Missouri in 1999, I gravitated toward the Missouri Pacific and Union Pacific. But, in observing motive power while railfanning, I’ll spot locomotives from other railroads heading up trains. Most of my Geeps are used for switching duties, but sometimes, I’ll head up a consist with them.
Hello All,
In my motive fleet I have:
The remainder is a mishmash of GE, Alco and EMD switchers and critters along with the obligatory F-Units.
Despite being an avid diesel fan I even have a USRA 0-6-0 with a Vanderbuilt tender, a Side Tank Porter 0-4-0 and a 0-4-0 “Mule”, all converted to burn oil.
Hope this helps.
I presently have:
4 SD45’s
2 SD7’s
1 SD9
2 GP7’s
2 GP9’s
2 GP35’s
Yes, Indeed, I love EMD power. I also have a bunch of F units, both A and B, as well as several SW’s
I have 8 GP20s, a GP9, GP30, 2 GP35s, 1 SD45, 1 SD40-2, 2 GP18s. I also have a bunch of SEa as well.
HO Scale : 1 GP38-2
1 SD40-2
1 SD38
N Scale: 1 GP-7
Not many GP’s. I have a pair of Athearn Genesis N&W Redbirds (GP-9s). I have a few other types of diesels but mostly steam.

Ok, on my layout the year is 1954, so an EMD GP or SD anything is pretty new, considering the GP7 was introduced in 1949 and GP/SD9 models had just been introduced in 1954.
My layout has a total roster of about 140 powered units, of them, GP and SD units are represented as follows:
ATLANTIC CENTRAL EMD GP7’s - 8 units
ATLANTIC CENTRAL EMD SD9’s - 2 units, freshly delivered from LaGrange…
WESTERN MARYLAND EMD GP7’s - 2 units
BALTIMORE & OHIO EMD GP7’s - 2 units
The rest of the diesel fleet is mostly made up of ALCO FA’s, PA’s, RS-2’s, S-1’s and EMD F units, BL2’s, E units.
About 60 of the 140 powered units are steam, about 10 are self propelled passenger equipment (RDC’s, doodlebugs, unit trains), so that leaves about 70 diesels total, making GP and SD units represent about 20% of the diesel fleet. That is likely a typical percentage for my era.
However, should the opportunity present itself, I would consider adding a few more GP or SD units in any of the road names I model.
