The BNSF should pay the Montana farmers to haul their grain (but the farmers could not complain about car supply to anyone except to their state legislature. This would allow the legislature to tax every car not provided at the slightest whim of a farmer.)
The BNSF should haul Montana wheat for free and the farmers could complain about car supply to anyone within earshot. (They’d do that anyway.)
The BNSF should never ever provide another grain car to any shipper in Montana.
The BNSF should triple its rates out of Montana, just to “Get” Montana and impoverish its farmers.
The BNSF should find a way around Montana.
We should ask Canada if they’ll take Montana.
We should pay Canada to take Montana.
We should threaten Canada if they don’t take Montana.
(9) or how about like Alberta to the North the farmers of Montana band together and get their own pool of cars this will accompli***wo things they will have additional storage capacity and can demand higher prices, They will then have a pool of cars for leasing at other times of the year for other commodities.
#10 sounds good except that the former NP is now Montana Rail Link.
#10a. Let the farmers buy the branchlines and establi***hem as separate common carriers. They could have a lot of fun learning about operating costs, car supply, rate divisions, etc.
#12 How about we convince the Borg, er…I mean the CN to come in and take over any and all railroads then can in the Northern US, and let the MT farmers deal with them. Resistance is futile. They will be assimilated.
Maybe a little. But, I don’t think this case is even going to be close and require that much litigation. Montana attorneys will make more off of FELA next year than they do off of this case.
