Hello.
I have recently used quite a bit of Poly Scale paint.
I would like to hear from others here that use it.
My question is…can the clear gloss be added to the paint?..if so what amount?
I was spot glossing cars and locos for decaling but I have a few locos that will be the “Pride of the fleet” so I would like to get a better finish for decaling.
Any and all ideas are welcomed.
I’ve read, from a custom painter who also works for Polly Scale, that a mix of 50% paint, 45% clear gloss and 5% thinner is what you want. I’ve never tried this myself though. I just spray the gloss after I’m done painting. FYI their clears don’t require thinning.
John.
I would put down a couple of coats of paint without the clear first, so that you get good coverage and maybe add the clear to the last couple of coats. Adding 45% clear to the paint also cut the amout of paint pigment by 45%. I find it easier and I get more consistent results coating the model with clear after all the color is done, though. It also uses up less clear.
