Pop cans

Couldn’t find much on search on this, maybe just didn’t hit the right subject.

I am cutting up pop cans and making roof tin.

What glue is recomended ? They pop off very easy if I use white glue .

How do I weather them? Tried some wood stain, it stayed wet for days and wipes off.

Any one have a way to make them corrugated or look that way?

Using the outside of the can you can make a nice pepsi billboard,[:D] If you have a pepsi can.

Thanks in advance.

There is a modeler on the Classic Toy Train forum that has done what you describe. I would do a search there.

Contact glue (Walthers Goo, etc.)

Spray paint.

Aluminum foil is a lot easier to work with than soda cans. I’d imagine that you could use an ordinary hair comb to “corrugate” foil. Try spraying with Dul-Cote, and then weathering with rust-colored powders to get some rust. Or, use a thin wash of rust paint.

Prime it with a rattle can of automotive primer or anything else you try to paint onto it will just flake and peel off.

For fastening it down, try latex caulk or Goop.

And to make what should be a perfectly safe and innocent topic into a hot potato…

In the world of equal rights, if you use a pop can, don’t you also have to use a mom can?

Here is a link to a post with lots of good pictures showing how to make a simple little corrugating tool. You have to have an account there to see the post but signup is free.
