Once upon a time the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce made an effort to get talent from along the route or its northern extension. Think Patty Loveless (Elkhorn City), the Judds (both &/or Wynonna), Kathy Mattea (nearly coal country). Either Ralph or Nathan Stanley (McClure, VA) or even Billy Ray Cyrus from up the road would be available going forward. Now the PR firm hired to promote the train is bringing in anybody and everybody to be the celebrity guest(s). Clinchfield lost the train to CSX, now are the people of the area losing it to a PR firm with no presence in the area? For that matter, does the NS presence in Kingsport translate to a CSX mindset of “If we don’t run this train, NS will”?
