Pop-ups on the internet have increased significantly lately. For example, every time I go to this forum, I now get a pop-up. I am using Mozilla FireFox and have the pop-up blocker turned on. It is difficult to navigate on ebay without pop-up windows blocking the view space. Yahoo is the same way. Many pop-ups appear if the mouse is positioned over some ad without even clicking the ad.
What is a good pop-up blocker to prevent these annoyances?
Message to the folks that control this forum: As you know, the pop-up is an advertisement for your products. It is just annoying your customers.
Unfortunately some of these pop-ups which are showing up aren’t true browser windows, and render the pop-up blockers useless. That’s what I’ve been seeing recently on this forum. Very annoying - is their intent to drive us away fromthe forum?
I’m still wondering what all the fuss is about----I’ve got Chrome, Firefox, and the beloved Internet Exploder–I mean Explorer—and adblockers and still no pop ups–[^]
I think what is be referred to are “expandebles” as they aren’t opening separate windows but expanding banners that are rolled over, or in some cases just a matter of opening a page. These are premium ad materials offered to by the site to advertisers. They will usually have an “X” in a corner to get rid of them. Pop-up blocker settings don’t effect these. It’s the price of using the sites.
Pops ups and slow loading pages due to graphic rich content. Both reasons I don’t come here often. 40/yr subscription fee make me a former subscriber. Nice magazine but 30/yr is about all I can justify even though I can afford, it just goes against my fiscal conservatism.
