Pop ups revisted

This has probably already been discussed to the end - but please humour me.

I run a up to date computer and up to the minute programs on it. I also subscribe to MR right up to 2012. I don’t need to be reminded (with popups ) about a new magazine everytime I check a new topic on this site. I know you run this forum for free but puh- lease - can it not be a subcriber bonus to not be reminded every time I ‘turn a page’.

I enjoy this forum as well as my other RR forums - but the pop-ups are really starting to make me lose my interest in visiting. I honestly love participating but it’s turning me off. I don’t anticipate this to be posted publicly very long but I just thought I’d chime in.

And please don’t take what I am saying to the extreme - I just want to voice my opinion to make this site better and up to its usual standards - before the pop ups.

Wow. I’ve voiced exact same opinion here this morning. In my experience pop ups annoy more than they help. I think there is plenty of real estate to put same ad on a side of this page.

Ditto!!!

I’ve kept quiet on the pop-up issue so far.

Done with that. soap-box, anyone? [soapbox]

I’m a subscriber to MR, plan on staying that way. I love this forum, it’s usually the first one I visit.

The pop-up is definitely getting annoying.

On one thread I know Neil mentioned that MR is trying to reach those who jsut visit the forum.

The problem with that:

every time you go to a new page, the top bar is seen reminding you of the MR site. Do we really need one annoying pop-up to remind us when every time we go to a new page we see the MR mag icon and the toolbars?

It seems, this being the third thread on these pop-ups, that we really don’t like having it. could you folks at MR please remove the pop-up, or what is your timetable to do so?

Respectfully yours,

Sawyer (Packers#1)

1train1,

You made your point over on your post in the other thread. Starting yet another thread isn’t going to help. Even so, I will do my best to do what I can to find out from Neil and Wade about addressing the frequency issue. Thank you for your patience.
