Popp's Naugatuck Valley Trackplan Question

Anyone know why the roundhouse near the Waterbury gas works on his 2.0 version of the layout got the axe in favor of the Waterbury Industrial District (seen in v3.0)?

More operating [:D]

The 2.0 version comes from a Popp article entitled “Steaming Along The Naugatuck” (free download for subscribers), in which David imagines the changes he’d have to make to his layout if he wanted to back-date it 10-12 years to a steam-only era.

The Waterbury Industrial District was already built before David did his steamy exercise.

Ahh, thanks mcfunkeymonkey. That’d make sense.

D P published a great little book about his layout. It is well written and includes lots of snap shots and color pictures. He does go into why he did somethings and such. Unfortunately, at least to me, it was published and all BEFORE he came out with his latest version of the layout. It is not disparaging that it is missing, I just really like his “3.0” version I just wish it was included so I don’t have to go dig through back issues.

Check out Building a Model Railroad Step-by-Step 2nd. Edition.
Includes a lot of the more recent stuff.

Either way, a great book that details many techniques to get modelers going (it did me!)

mcfunkeymonkey, do you have a link to the Steaming Along The Naugatuck downloadable link?

Can’t seem to find the downloadable PDF on the site now.
But the article was in the 2008 issue of Great Model Railroads.
