Portland, OR Union Station

Just had a business Trip to Portland. My wife and I were looking at restaurants for dinner and came across the interesting place called Wilf’s. It is in the Union Station and we were seated by the window looking out at the tracks. The action was interesting watching the Cascade trains arrive and depart from Union Station. There were also several UP trains passing through as well. For the location alone the place was spectacular. The food was outstanding as well. I would recommend it to any rail fan.
Any one else have favorite restaurants to go to have a meal while you enjoy our hobby?

YES! That place is called Franks Diner in Downtown Spokane, WA. The diner car is literally on the roadbed of the double tracked (and very busy) BNSF main line from Seattle/Portland to Chicago. The height of the diner is about as high as the ties. So you look up at the trains.

Yeah, posts have been getting very boring lately. Nobody seems to care what the heck is going on on the forum. Well, I responded because I care. And I LOVE Portland. And nobody responded to my post so i just deleted that freakin thing! Glad you enjoyed Portland!!! Andrew

Well I can’t say as of yet how the food is up there a little farther north then I’m going next week.My wife and I will be going to Albany and then over to my sisters for BISCUITS and GRAVEY ,and then everything else they cook up there in Oregon. It seems there is a lot of compatition between cooking out here in the west and back on the other side of the Rockies. The water must be a little different when it flows down the east side…It still makes the food
the best ,thank you, Dave Bryce,Glendale,Ca,(that’s in Lebanon)

Wilfs is a very fine place. And the clock tower reads “GO BY TRAIN”

The nice thing about Portland is you do not need your car to get around the city. Franks Dinner in Spokane I will try it out Spokane is on my List of offices I will need to visit.

I’ll jump on the Portland band-wagon and also say that it is a great city. I’ve never tried the restaurant at Union Station.

Never been there but sounds like a good place to go.

Just back form NYC and Grand Central Terminal. If you ever are in the Big Apple go to Grand Central. Go to the Grand Central Central Oyster Bar. There is a nother resterant located on the mezinine.

And if you’re ever in Green Bay, WI area, three good places to eat/drink/watch from are:
Titletown Brewing Company-former C&NW depot, now a brewery/restaurant (some outdoor seating on the platform). Try their beer cheese soup!
Hinterland Brewing Company-just across the street, limited outdoor seating.
Sports Corner bar/restaurant in DePere (just a few miles south)-former hotel right next to the tracks with a small outdoor patio shoehorned between the building & the right of way.
