Just saw a BNSF train moving south bound thru the UPRR Brooklyn yard. As it was the 1st one I have seen going thru the yard was it just a BNSF train diverted or do they own trackage rights over the former SPRR southward of Portland? [:o)]

I think BNSF may have an agreement for a transfer type train.

I knew the Coast Starlight would switch over from SP to BN tracks at one time.

Just a guess on my part.

What is the link to this Cam? Allan.

First, What is the URL for this WebCam. Then perhaps I’ll tell you what’s going on. [}:)][}:)] No, I will tell you now. [:D]

The train you saw was the local going to the Cascade Branches out of Albany. It originates in Vancouver, WA.

It used to go South on the OE over Cornelius Pass, but when a couple of the bridges became in need of repairs that the BN did not want to make (includes the trestle fire over Lake Labish), they sold the “A” line and the United Line to the Oregon Department of Transportation and TriMet and also the OE from Beaverton South to the North end of Salem just a few blocks South of where I-5 crosses over the SP main at Labish.

The BN built a crossover between Labish Siding and the OE main and then abandoned the trackage over Cornelius Pass. The State then rebuilt the bridges in question and leased the line to the Portland and Western. The BN and the PWRR also operate jointly between Labish and Albany, and the Willamette and Pacific operates via a lease the balance of the OE between Albany and Eugene.

Since the W&P and the P&W are both owned by the Genesee and Wyoming, they are operated as a single system, having the same management, MofW, B&B, loco and car shops and such. Like the CBQ and the CS and FWD.

Arrive 09/30 about 1700 hours & depart 10/09 0800. Basic reason for the trip is to do a scouting mission to look for a house to buy so I do not know how much time I will have for a train ride. [:o)][:D]
