Doesn’t the post count drop when threads are deleted? Maybe the moderator is cleaning up old “not train related” threads that you may have participated in. I don’t notice the post count thing so I’m oblivious to the change, but maybe someone else knows for sure.
[#ditto] I think that “rude chick” thread got deleated. That probably took a few away. Remember when UPnut’s threads were getting deleted? He was down to -25 on his count![:-,]
By the way. That “rude chick” got smart mouthy with the boss the other day and he chewed her out. He told her since she thinks so highly of herself that maybe she’d be happier at another job where her nasty attitude would be more appreciated… So hopefully she’ll be gone soon.
As for the post count. I’ll make it up this coming weekend by replying to every topic on the forum with a simple yep, nope, huh?, dito and so forth until I get it back up to where it’s supposed to be.
Yeah. Well. I’ve got my first bill laying here on my desk in front of me for a one year subscription to Model Railroader. I think I’ll just rip up my check and write cancel across it and send it back to them. If I can’t reply on their forum I don’t need their magazine…
As for me being a post counter. Wait until it happens to you then you’ll know how it feels.
Tracklayer, if you are so worried about your post count then I’ll just give you mine, OK. Do you feel better now? Post counts are just like stars in my opinion, they both attract a large amount of useless posts.
I participate in a surplus rifle forum that if you do not have at least 10 posts you cannot use (or even see for that matter) the buy-sell-trade section. That matters, but anything above that does not.
Hey, look, I just broke 10 posts! All right! Maybe I’ll take my wife out to dinner tonight :)[(-D]!
Tracklayer, take my postcount if you want. It’s meaningless! You usually make high quality posts, and isn’t that what counts? It’s not about how much meaningless dribble one can spout out. It’s about quality, not quantity.
Please refrain from doing that. Not a single person in this forum will (a) appreciate such an action or (b) view you as a member with valuable insight if you were to come in and try to bump up your count.
As others have mentioned, you post count really doesn’t get you anywhere. It’s quality, not quantity. I’m not standing at a post count finish line holding a stash of prizes for the first member to reach a certain level of posts.
The post count is no big deal. I spend too much time here anyway…but only at work, it’s all there is to do to break the boredom. I look at the computer screen and check the plant operations,…then go to the forum, then check the plant…then back to the forum…over and over again…you won’t see me here when i’m off…you’ll find me in the train room working on the layout…the number of posts i put here or anyone else’s post count is really no big deal…it’s the quality of the posts that count…chuck
We’re not out to get you, tracklayer. If a thread is removed from the forum, EVERYONE who posted within that thread has their count readjusted. I fail to see a connection between having a meaningless number altered by a computer system and not receiving a magazine that helps you with your hobby.
I have to admit, I look at somebody’s post count every time I read a post. It gives me an idea of how creditable the information may be. I know it shouldn’t be that way, but it is for me. What I think is funny is when someone joins, and a month later they have 300 posts! Somehow I don’t think that all of those posts were necessary.
