As of today, I see new changes to the forum post editor, using a desktop with Internet Explorer 10. I last logged into the forum using this machine about a week ago, so I’m nor sure the date any changes may have been made.
I see no options now for inserting photos or other media, and no html editor like there was before the forum software was revised. There’s no “compatibility mode” available either to check if that would resolve anything.
Is what I’m seeing an issue with my browser or a change affecting everybody? I like to share photos and the previous editor made that relatively easy. I’d rather not have to enter my own html every time to insert and size photos, and don’t always remember how anyway. On the plus side we do have plenty of emoticons. [|(]
I used Chrome over the Thanksgiving weekend on another machine, and the editor looked as expected. Looks like I may have to break down and install Chrome on this one too. I still wonder how many non IE 10 users are affected. Anyone?
Thanks Frank. I enabled this site under compatibility view settings as described, but no change to the editor. It’s still displaying the same way without all the features.
I haven’t had any problems with IE10, hitting Reply gets me the full editor. Hitting Quick Reply - that’s the one that has no buttons, no menu, nothing.
I don’t know what the IE10 browser shows when you bring up the post editor. On Firefox I see icons for Undo, Redo, Bold, Italics,Underline, Horizontal Ruler, Align Left, Align Center, Bullet List, Numbered List, Decrease Indent, Increase Indent, Source Code as well as as icons for Cut, Copy, Paste, Insert/Edit Link, Insert/Edit Image, Insert/Edit Video, Fullscreen, Preview Post, Emoticons. I also have click and drop menus for the same functions listed above.
You sure you didn’t click the ‘Quick Reply’ button’?
Yes, that was the first thing I checked. The editor in “quick reply” works like before. I also tried exiting the browser, trying to access the editor from several different threads, etc.
I’m posting this from Chrome, and it has all the normal editor features. The missing portions from IE 10 include the three icons for Insert/Edit Link, Insert/Edit Image, and Insert/Edit Video.
Has to be some kind of browser setting to lock things down. Very wierd that those three icons would be missing from the menu. I suppose I could take a screen shot and upload it, but it’s all there for me. Bottom rown of icones, left to right, scissors for cut, two pages for copy, clipboard and page for paste, divider, chain for link, picture for image insert, filstrip for video insert, then a breake, then 4 arrows for full screen, magnifier for zoom, and a sniley face for insert emoticons.
